You can get the 6637 (46637) filter from here, or Napa, or CarQuest, or others.

Nobody has done any studies to that effect, but I can tell you that the cover will stop the bigger particles from getting stuck in the filter media.
Then all the 6637 has to do is filter out the fine stuff that gets through.

The filter cover may also cause some air flow restriction. The prefilter may not have as much capacity either, so will restrict airflow. Basically, I don't think it is worth it. They usually cost as much or more than a 6637 filter.

I think people are buying them because they like the look. To me, I like the look of the filter....it looks very "diesel like".

Here's a link about the 6637 and how to do it.
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/54...s-h-u-g-e.html
Click the Pete's cover in my sig for his email. Let him know you are interested in one of his covers and he will contact you soon with a list of his designs and will even do a custom design for you. He is an active member here on FTE and goes by F250_. His DP-Tuner design is his newest, I think and comes in several color options.
Posted the same on another thread.
As far as if they work, I have pictures of the outside and inside of my old yellow cover that proves to me that the cover stop a lot of dirt before it got to my cover. As far as restrictions, this filters wouldn't notice a little restriction. As far a the value, the look alone is worth the cost, the effectiveness is just a bonus.

I would like to know more about this. Have you bought one and tested it? How much difference is the flow with and without the filter cover? Pete must have gone up quite a bit sense I bought mine.

Thanks.

I also wondered about any restrictions from filter covers? You would think that there would be some restriction just from adding another media for the air to travel through. I run a filter cover on my 6637 (Outerwears) and have access to a flow bench and was thinking of doing some flow testing between the Outerwears and Pete's cover not to see if one is better than the other but to get some actual numbers on flow restriction of the two covers verses no cover.

I haven't bought one, haven't tested it. Too much money, zero benefit. What's the filter's capacity? What micron rating? What's the efficiency? Is it better than a T-shirt?

The 6637 has plenty of capacity, plenty efficient.

Get the filter cover if you want it for looks.

If you run a test on your flow bench I would be interested in the out come I have a Outerwears on my 6637 also, I got it before I knew about Pete's.

If you're going to test it, test it with a new one, then test it miles later when there's dirt on it. It may "plug" quick, reducing airflow. The advantage to something like 6637 is the capacity, airflow, and efficiency. As dirt/dust clog up the filter pores, restriction increases. That's why you see pleated filters to increase surface area and capacity.

Anyone have the price of the pre-filter? I thought it was close to $20. I can buy a new 6637 for around $25, and it will last much longer. The prefilter will have to be changed more frequently than a 6637.

The pre filter (Pete's cover) is washable, the filter is not. Just pull it off, wash it out, wring it out, and put it back on.

Someone posted a pic of thier filter after running Pete's cover and it looked new. I have one on my truck with around 5,000 miles on it and i am get ready to pull it off and see what it looks like.

Also this would bring up the filter minder again. If you put this back on the new filter it should tell you about the air flow.. right. I still have not put mine back on my 6673 filter.

just my 0.02
