Not one dent in the bed!

Engine lil rough and AC removed but runs excellent and no leaks anywhere! Passed emissions even.

A buffer and a beer

Missing the "D"

Hello all. New to the forum. I purchased this 1979 F150 Lariat with a 460 Automatic a week ago and since then I have spent many an hour on these forums researching. Purchased it from the 2nd owner. It's been garaged most of the time since new so the original paint still looks great. Tiny spot of rust on the passenger door at the bottom but the rest is perfect. I was told that In 1981, the original owner purchased a boat that proved to be a little much for the 351 that it came with so he took it back to the dealer and had them install the 460. Runs really well, however none of the gauges work as one of the two previous owners went crazy with the wiring. Also the steering column has received some negative attention. Running gear and drive train is solid, thankfully. Growing up my family had a 73' F250 Highboy, a 76 F150, and finally a 1978 F150. I'm very sentimental and for me, these trucks take me back. Just the sound the doors make when closing is enough to bring a smile to my face. No other vehicle makes quite that sound.I hope to learn a lot from you guys, and get some great ideas.

Nice looking truck, love the Wimbledon White! Don't see to many in that color. I can not believe that paint is original, it looks amazing for 40yo. Don't find anything in NJ that old that looks that good.

Nice looking ride you have! Wonder why your truck doesn't have the Lariat door panels? Regardless, it looks great but if it was mine, I would be in search of a nice set to further compliment your truck!

Might also consider getting a Marti report on the truck!? Just my .02

Very nice truck and a 2" or 3" body lift? You know you hood bonding jumper cable is disconnected? 2nd pic L/H upper corner. That bed is something to be proud of for sure. I am guessing that is an AC Cobra next to it? Show off... a dent free bed AND an AC Cobra.

Thanks for the kind words, and my what keen eyes some of you have!!. The truck is actually yellow although it certainly looks white in the photos. Like a sand color. Hadn't noticed the non lariat door panels so that will be on my to do, Thanks for that recommendation. The bonding jumper as mentioned is laying there as are a lot of wires! Good find! And yes that's a Cobra replica next to it also with a 460. The truck has had the AC compressor and mount bracket removed but the lines are still there and the heater is also bypassed, probably bad heater core. All of it will be replaced, this time with R134. Also the aft fuel tank has not had fuel in it for almost 15 years. 2nd owner used it once or twice a month to drive it to work so he never put gas in that tank. It will have to be gone through. Which to me is fun and what I enjoy, Unsure of the mileage as the odometer doesn't work. I didn't think it was lifted however and never noticed anything to the contrary but I have 5 days off starting tomorrow so a lot of inspecting to done to see exactly what needs attention. I noted it has a piece of trim that runs across the back of the cab, (although I took the passenger side off) I've only seen this just a couple of times? Is that a Lariat thing? Anyhow, I think I would like to go the route of keeping it original rather than extensively modifying it. I may do the marti report, turns out Kevin Marti lives just a few minutes away. Any recommendations, ideas, short cuts, what not to do, is all helpful so if you have one I'm all ears. Incidentally I paid $7500. Let me know if you think that was too much, just right, or if you think I have a fair deal on my hands.

Sweet truck. Also from North PHX. Post your door tag I would think you had a 2 tone paint on it before with all the moldings. Roof and sides should be one color the rest another color.
$7500 is a good price for what you got.

Learning alot here already, Here's my door tag, it's painted over which tells me the door too must have been repainted. Attempting to decode it, the letter U says cream colored.

Lived in easten MT for 6 years before moving to PHX last May. If that 2nd letter in paint code is M it's Whimbleton White. That makes an odd color combo.White & light Sand.
