F-350 5-speed manual trans grinds into 2nd gear when downshifting??

Sometimes when downshifting and only when downshifting, my f350 will grind when going into 2nd gear. I thought that by replacing the bushings, etc on the clutch swivel arm under the dash would fix it, but it still grinds.

Any ideas/suggestions??

F350 crew cab dually, 7.3L turbo diesel w/ 5 speed manual transmission.

sounds to me to be a synchronizer ring inside tranny.
try bringing rpm's up a little to match 2nd gear speed.
might help changing trans fluid/oil.

I agree with tonfro, try changing the tranny fluid and try double clutching. I have a 91 Explorer with the 5 speed and it does the same thing in second gear unless you double clutch.

I tried double clutching and it doesnt seem to help. How much oil does it take to refill, if i change it.

Thanks

My 96 F-250 PSD does the same thing and I found out my clutch master cylinder is going out. Every so often I can bleed the clutch system and make it work better but air slowly works its way back in and it will grind again I keep bleeding the system because I am trying to make the clutch master go as long as I can before replacing it, I am too cheap to just go buy one. I just replaced the clutch master cylinder in my friends f-250 and it shifts like a brand new truck. He had the same problem and his clutch master totally failed. I am almost positive that it is your clutch master cylinder. replace it and the problem will go away. I also found out that when you do replace it, it is easier to take the slave cylinder out and hook the master and slave together with the line that runs between them and bleed them out of the truck then install the two with them hooked together still and it will work awesome. Hope this helps.
