Play at the top of the Go-Pedal

Since I have had my 96 350 Standard Shift, there has been about 3 inches in the top of the go pedal that does not have anything. It is hard to keep the rpm's up when shifting. Could it be the tps. It has been this way for almost 3 yrs. It idles fine.

wow, 3 inches sounds like the tps has a dead spot, how is rpm affected from idle to the end of that big gap? do they jump up alot or is it a smooth transition?

If you had that big of a dead spot I would thing the truck would CEL. It could be that bushing on the opposite side of the TPS. Here are some good photo(s) on that item.
