Keyless Door Keypad repair 05 F250
Hello
Two of the five buttons on my keypad do not light up, and intially did't work. I would guess the previous owers code involved the three buttons that worked well and the other two became inoperative from lack of use.
I needed to use those buttons for the factory code so I could put in my own code. I finally discovered that those two buttons will work most of the time if I push them very firmly all the way down. But the lights are still out.
Does anyone have any nice photos of the keypad disassembled for cleaning and repair that they could share?
Apparently there are at least two types of the wired keypads. Older FoMoCo keypads with only one bulb and the assembly is potted in silicon rubber. And new ones, like I believe mine to be, that have five individual bulbs or possibly LED's.
Thanks

OK I will answer myself! I took out the switch. It snaps apart, there are 8 little tabs hold the front bezel and back housing together. I cleaned up the brass contacts embeded in the rubber key membrane and the contacts on the printed circuit board with some alcohol and a pencil eraser. I must say before I started cleaning they did not look bad at all. Just some very slight tarnish. Put it back together and all the buttons are working fine now.
Oh yeah the two LED's on those two buttons still do not work, they are apparently bad. they are mounted on the other side of the PCB, to get to them it seems you would have to unsolder the 6 leads that go to the connector, they hold the PCB in place. I didn't go through all that at this time, I just wanted to get the buttons working.
