Best truck/car you ever owned
Hello all,
I am just curious to find out what everyone's best car or truck they ever owned is/was. Doesn't have to be a Ford truck even though this is a Ford truck site.
In my case, the best vehicle I ever owned was a 1990 Pontiac Firebird. I bought it from a used car lot on Harbor Bl. in Santa Ana, California in 2000. I was the second owner of the vehicle. The original owner bought it in San Jose in 1990. All maintenance receipts were in the glove box, as well as the original owners manual. I paid $4,000 for it.
It was a V6 model (3.1 I think) and it was black with a tan interior. It had power everything, and the T-top option. I loved that car. When I got my settlement from the auto accident that screwed up my knee I used some of the money to add a better stereo system, a Viper alarm, and get the car repainted the original black. Also had them install a Trans Am hood so it would look like the real deal.
About a year or so later, I thought I would be moving to the desert of Arizona, and figured a 4x4 would be better suited to that instead of the Firebird, so I traded it in for a Jeep Cherokee. Three months after I did that, the Arizona plans fell thru and I was stuck with the Jeep which I could not afford at the time.
To this day I kick myself every time I think of letting that Firebird go.
So, lets hear your stories about your favorite vehicle, and if you still have it or not.

Favorite truck- my 1970 F250 4X4. My parents bought it new when I was 1. I grew up with the truck, drove it to high school everyday, got in my first accident in it, drove it in college, and after my brother having it for awhile, I now have it and am restoring it.
My favorite car was not my best car. I really liked my 2003 Dodge Intrepid. It was dark eggplant purple with the 2.7L V6. It got around 28 mpg yet had good power, handled-cornered great, could fit 6 people, each with a seat belt, the trunk was so big it had its own zip code. It also looked good. The tranny went out on it and the cost to replace it was worth more than the car. My wife needed an economical car to drive to Davis everyday (80 miles round trip) so we got a new Corolla.
The Intrepid was my favorite car, not my best (built) car. I guess that would be my Subaru Outback or my Corolla. Both are the best built cars I have owned.

can someone have more that one favorite vehicle??
i have/had 4 favorite vehicles:
1986 oldsmobile cutlass salon w/442 performance package
1988 mercury cougar XR7 w/5.0
1993 ford f-150 w/5.0 2wd
1994 ford t-bird w/4.6
the oldsmobile all stock had the 442 performance package, v8, 4bbl auto w/od, limited slip posi factory chrome rims fully loaded. paid $1200 was worth $5000 at the time i got it. bought it from a friend of ex-wife family.
the cougar was the first vehicle i bought from a dealer ship. fully loaded with limited slip rear. the dealer was telling me it had a regular rear in it, until i proved him wrong. he wished he had known that, he would have sold it to me for about $700 more. i only paid about $6000 for it. i still had the olds at the time, he wanted to buy the olds from me. i stuck to my guns and said no.
the truck i traded a dodge dakota truck for it. the dodge was the first truck i ever owned. i would never buy another used dodge truck again. nothing but problems with them. the ford was a great truck, but ex had a problem with backing up with it. so to only please her we sold it to get the t-bird.
the t-bird when we got it, we found it on the lot by mistake. a salesman was gonna buy it, but we found it first. the bird ran great, fully loaded. 4.6 v8, limited slip rear end. it was pearl white. factory alum. rims.
now if someone was to offer me one of these vehicles at no charge, it would be hard to choose from. it would be a toss up between the cougar and olds.
well there is my 2cents worth.

The best car I've owned. Don't laugh but it is this 1995 Ford Aspire. I paid $2000 for it to the original owner that had it for 10 years and 88K miles. I've had it for 2.5 years and have doubled that mileage. It has been Denver, Oregon (3x), San Diego, Palm Springs, Four Corners Area (2x), all on top of a Daily 50 (one way) Mile commute.
Maintenance? I gave it it's first tune up. Oil Changes (when I remember to), 1 set Tires..that's it.
Repairs? Weld crack in exhaust piple from manifold to catalytic converter. $10
This car isn't stylish, it's not comfortable...but it just goes on and on and on and and on...you get the idea.
Favorite cars, not in order of ownership....66 F100 S/B, 66 F100 L/B, 66 F250 86 F250 59Catalina 2dr hardtop, 54 Olds Super 88 2dr sedan, 64 Skylark Conv., 65 Dodge Polara 9 Psngr Wagon, 65 Skylark 2dr. Hardtop, 57 Chevy 210 Wagon, 64 Catalina 2dr hardtop...I'm a driving fool old car nut I buy them just so I can saddle up and ride where the road may take me. Not all were perfect, some far from it, but each were my favorite and in each many fine memories were had. Even the bad things that happened have mellowed into funny stories and lessons learned the hardway.
Like our trip to Mexico in a $600 57 Chevy.....another day..
All the best, all the way.

Well, AH1 and AH2 were in fine form... we drank a few icy cold throat charmers, argued alot, loaded the Ford and it was time to say adios...The F250 didn't miss a beat from Hollister, to Sac to Oakdale and home...I can't remember when I saw so many police on the road but I felt safe...Thank you Hollister Motorcycle Rally......sorry Mike, I'll catch you on the flip side on of these here days...

The Pelican (1964 Falcon 289 4-Spd). Still have it. Next isn't mine per se since it's my dad's 32 Woody. He's had it since before I was born and it has been "under restoration" for as long as I can remember... I'm 36 and was too young to remember being driven in it as a small kid since it was the 2nd car. He's actually got the sheet metal painted and the wood is actually being varnished. I can't believe it's getting done. I guess if you pay $250 bucks for a car you can take 35 years to restore it.

Wow, that falcon brings back memories.
My very first car was a '63 Ford Falcon, straight six, and three speed on the shaft. It had a little quirk where the oil return gallery got plugged up and the fix was to run a little copper tubing from the valve cover back down to the oil pan. I loved that car until I burned a hole in one of the pistons.
Dang, that brings back memories.

Hey OldDog...talking about aerodynamics and top speed...that 65 Polara 880 Wagon I had...my first car...I was 16 it was $350....Heading South on HiWay 1....there's this long, long, hill...we called it Mile Hile... It's just before the Watsonville Airport Boulevard Exit....any way...
Talk about Gas ON and Hang ON...that Speedo Needle would be bouncing around 110 - 120....and I'd just be hanging on......what an adrenaline rush...who knows how fast I was going it felt like light speed..but was probably like 110...
Of course it was 3am....noone on the road....just me, the Belch Fire....hell my brain wasn't even there...I'd left it up at the top of the hill.
That old car would start to shakin, rattlin' and rollin like the big ol' tin can it was...at the bottom of the hill...the springs would squarsh down ....
It wasn't the best car I've owned...but I never have so much fun in a car...talk about Dionysian wild abandon..
....Telephone poles looked like a picket fence...beep, beep....
