There are a number of places to get information. One that I like is journeytoforever.com They have recipies from different people who all do things slightly different, and they have some diagrams and photos of different setups people have developed.
There is a place in Chico near me that make biodiesel processors (biopro series) They make all stainless steel single tub units which are semi automatic, they are pretty nice I went and looked at them but they want $9000! That pretty much defeats my purpose of making inexpensive fuel. But I think I can make something very similar (maybe better) to what they do for about 10% of the cost. But I think I like their method of esterfication (acidic reaction) prior to transesterfication (basic reaction). At journeytoforever they term it the "fool proof" method. The biopro 190 is a 50 gal batch reactor. The 190 comes from the recipe where you add 190ml of sulfuric acid as the first step, then add the methoxide. This eliminates the need to perform a titration, all you need to do is test for FFA and as long as it is below 5% you are good to go. (that is what they tell me)
I haven't made BD yet, I am pretty sure of how I am going to do it and am in the process of obtaining tanks and other equipment. But I am always looking for the experiences of others to refine things better. I am still not sure how I am going to put together a methanol recovery system...

Hey thanks for that info from me as well. Down here in Florida, diesel is too close to $5/gal as it is, and my 7.3L gobbles it up at a rate of a gallon every 16miles hwy.
I had looked into SVO but too many places said that direct-injection diesels and straight veggie oil were a bad combination. From waht I've found out so far, the same is not true for biodiesel. Its a 1999 powerstroke tdi 7.3L with 213,000 miles on board. I'm aware that I'll probably scuttle a few fuel filters (no worries there. they aren't as expensive or tough to get at as the ones on the newer trucks).
Am I correct so far? I'm ok to go for B100? My ultimate goal is to kick the dinodiesel for good (along with all the state and federal taxes those things have added to them, and the horrible fluctuations the arabs force on us).
ANY advice is welcome at this point. I'm pretty certain I want to go with a processor, instead of truly home-rolling my own in big tubs, and have found some for under $5k (one of which promises no-water wash -to avoid waste water (I live in the country, have a well, so these things are quite important, as my water would go in the ground).
Thanks in advance!!!

I run bio in my 05 and it runs great. I buy it from a few commercial sources. The quality of the bio is of the most important thing about running bio. Once the diesel sludge (sulfur) is cleaned out you are good to go.
