94 explorer sub woofer problem
I have a 1994 Explorer eddie bauer with the premium sound system. I put in a new Sony cd player 50w x 4.
Everything has been working fine until we tried to put in a new subwoofer box. We wired it in with the speaker wires from the factory sub and it worked fine. Then we disconnected it to add a longer wire, hooked it up and we get no sound. All the other regular speakers work, just no sound from the sub. Is there another fuse or breaker for the subs on these things? Do you think we blew the sub amp?

Well, I figured it out for myself. I took the sub amp apart and found two transisters fried. Let this be a lesson to anyone who doesn't believe in cutting the power before working on your stereo equipment.I think my son crossed the wires when he was hooking up his new sub. Oh well, live and learn.
