Actually, I didn't realize how rare my OBDII MAF 460 was... I was just thinking I could pull a barn up the grapevine with it.

Not bad for my second-ever Ford (1st one was a 200CID I6 66 Mustang when I was in HS). Love this truck!

Hey,

I am also new here, and am going to be picking up a maf equipped 460 shortly. I haven't done any research on this site yet, but I am certain that a guy should be able to mod the 'maf' 460 easier than the old speed density? I want to do intake, headers and exhaust, and a mild cam.

Down the road(next year), I am hoping to do a custom turbo kit, and get the beast up to 6-700 hp, yet still be streetable. I've seen a couple of places that port the E7(?) heads with good results for reasonable $.

I have too many buddies with done up diesels that I would love to wipe my feet on!

Ya, I am envious of the MAF 460's but oh well thats the way it goes. One thing I can say, Which is about the only thing I have seen bad about the MAF's, is that they seem apt to throw exhaust lean codes when the fuel filter is just getting restricted. A customer came in a few months ago that had a 95' with OBD I and SFI but of course this was a California Truck, also she had 272, something on the clock on the original 7.5

Brad, How much power did your vortech add, and what else did you have to do, Not to hi-jack the thread

By the seat-O-pants meter? 100hp. Didnt have to do much to bolt the kit on, it was a used kit so i had to buy a couple missing pieces

A few years ago I had a hard time believing what I saw. A 92' or 93' F250 CA 7.5 that had SFI on a Speed Density PCM. No MAF just a MAP sensor and on the Emissions Sticker it definitely indicated SFI.

I wouldn't have thought a MAF equipped 460 was rare. I figured that was normal for a 96 as part of going OBD-II.

I had it get gunky a while back (K&N was dirty) and cause the banks to run lean, but that's about it.

135,000 miles and this thing has more power than a tank. I had it run uphill, 10% grade, in fourth at 75MPH, no slowdown. Long hill too. Granted, there was no wind, but...

I'm thinking it's had some service at some point, though, as both the distributor and spark plugs have been replaced.

Now if I could only get better than 7.5MPG in the city...it's bad enough that I rejoice getting 12.5 highway. But the good thing about it is that its consistent. A/C on, A/C off, slow driving, sporty driving, it's all the same.

The subject of OBD-II OBS trucks comes up every 4-6 weeks. As we all have noted before the Cali. emission 1996 and later F250/350 trucks are typically OBD-II especially if they have a 7.5 L engine.

I missed an opportunity to snag a 1996 F350 4X4 CC w/7.5L engine and OBD-II by 30 minutes last summer. Someone made it to the dealership before I could.
