Best towing RPM

What would red line be? Where would the sweet spot be for towing rpm. I can't wait untill I get to hook up and do pull the 17k fiver up some grades

When I had 22k behind me I had the rpm's at around 2000. But the power was there from 1750 and up. I was getting the best mileage at 1800 rpm.

With my 6.0 I would hold 3000 rpms to hold the speed I wanted.Do ya think that would be too much.Maybe I should wait to see how it tows first. Thanks STD (LOL)

It will be different with the 4.30 gears you have, I'm running 3.73's. So no matter what you'll be running higher rpm's.

About the same weight that I tow. Ran best at about 62mph 2,000 rpms. At that speed it would not downshift often except on big hills. Below 50mph it would feel a little luggy, like SouthTexasDiesel said about 1750 and above. It is hard to keep it under 68mph towing. Just can not feel the speed. On the way down to Va last year ran it in cruise. But found it would sometimes down shift at 62mpg and bring it up to 67mph at the crest of hills. On the way back I kept it out of cruise except on the flats. Found I liked picking up a little more speed at the bottom of a hill and let off a little at the top so it did not downshift. This truck was amazing towing, can hardly wait for two more weeks to go 2500 miles.

I have the same truck and mine feels more responsive at 2200 rpm than it does at 2000 rpm. Either has enough power to tow more than I imagined but 2200 rpm seems to be the sweet spot where it won't lose any speed on moderate grades.
