My satisfaction with my 6.0
#31
tex, you said it. "If properly working". I had two (6.0's), neither one worked out. I work a truck, but not abuse it. I don't need a ride around truck with tuners and such that I'll get rid of before 100,000 miles and then tell everyone what a great truck it was. All I want out of a truck is to be able to feed the family and have things, but it's hard to do when the thing is on the side of the road or in the shop. Remember the rabbit and the turtle, I'll keep my turtle. They say don't knock it till you try it, I tried it twice so I have a right to knock it.

You do have a 'right to knock it', just start your own thread instead of pissing on the parade please.

Sorry Kepler4, I didn't mean that you were knocking someone else's truck. I merely meant what was quoted in an earlier post. I know that there are some good 6.0's out there but it doesn't mean the 7.3 owners live in the stone ages. The 6.0 just didn't work out for me,if people have to bash someone else's things to make theirs look better it seems that they don't really have much.

You got the brunt of some latent hostility I have toward 7.3 guys, who have by far the vast majority have belittled the 6.0s and when I made that statement that was a passive aggressive way to deal with that issue. Now I'm not saying that you had anything to do with that toward me directly(not saying you didn't either) when I made that comment, but there it is.

In all honesty, despite the tangent that has happened in this thread, one thing that the whole 6.0 v. 7.3 shows is that they were good engines(when they were all working of course).
Bottomline, if your happy with your ride(no matter what it is) who cares what the other person thinks(especially if they drive a gasser(that's going to come back to me I know it)).

Kind of an interesting story, my buddy was helping me work one day. Takin my uncles 81 F250 351-4spd home. Distributor buggered up and I had to tow it 12 or so miles home. along the drive, im cruisin to hardatak on sat radio and my buddy had it tuned to it as well in the 81. My truck had the bully dog extreme tune on, and im lovin the working engine sound. Buddy decides it would be funny if he lays on the brakes, 2 foot plant, in this 81. He wants to stop me and laugh! You think that 6ooo lb truck would stop me, NO WAY. I drug that truck all the way home, all 4 locked up draggin gravel! He said hes never, ever heard such a beautiful sound than that engine pulling hard towing that truck! Case anyone cared....

Still love my '04
My '04 is approaching 80K miles and still a blast to drive. Always has been. Tried the SCT 1704 for awhile and dropped it when the Ford programming no longer would load after a reflash. Lost a transmission after they "fixed" it with a recall. Replaced with a reman tranny @ 27 K miles. Been running stock since. This rig pulls the 27' SportCat without a hiccup. Gets around 19 mpg unloaded on the highway @ 65 mph. Regular oil and filter changes are paramount to a good running 6.0.
It is nice to hear about other folks who love their 6.0's as much as I do. There are plenty of these rigs on the road. I have never talked to anyone while filling up or putting the boat in the water who had anything bad to say about their 6.0.
