I hear that the methanol is some bad stuff and the KOH is very sensitive to moisture. What type of containers are you guys storing your chemicals in? i don't want the methanol blowing up my garage

 

I store my 55 gallon drums of Methanol OUTSIDE the shop, and have an alcohol pump that pumps it inside to the mixer. The drum has a copper ground wire as does every tank I use. I keep my KOH in a removable head drum that is sealed also.

 

Don, what are you paying for KOH. Cheapest I have found it is ~$5/pound delivered. I have since changed to NaOH since I can get it here for ~$.65/pound.

 

Empiretec, where is "here" ? I ask because I've just started looking for local sources for KOH, and perhaps NaOH. I've got a few sources for methanol. I'm looking around the Houston and surrounding areas.
