A/C charged but its off & on

My ac quit on me so I checked the charge on it. It was fine. I just happened to wiggle the wires on the top of the compressor and the clutch engaged. I tied the wires back to the position that the clutch was happy and it worked fine for a while (a month). Now its in and out all the time. What is the two wires half way back on the top of the compressor? Is that a sensor or something, mine might be bad. The plug-in on top, by the clutch, is the power, isn't it? I wiggled it once and the clutch started. When it works it works, you can hang a side of beef in there. Any suggestions will be appreciated!! Its starting to get hot!!

Have you check the pressures yet with gauges? The sencer you are talking about is the high side for high head pressure, the sencer could be bad or you are building to much head pressure.

My buddies low pressure switch did the same thing. We just sprayed some contact cleaner on both ends & used a little pick to tighten the terminal ends in the plug. just don't go overboard. That was one thing about Ford A/C, When it works, It wil freeze you out.

I was just doing a search on that. My pressures seemed to be OK but I don't know what the range should be. Where can I find this information? Thanks

High pressure, low pressure, which one is it? I guess it doesn't matter if I can clean it up and it will work. With the gauges on, which should the presures be? Anybody know where I can look them up? Thanks a lot!

Low side should be around 30 psi and high side should be around 150-200
