No more truck
Well guys, the economy forced my hand for the first time EVER! I travel for work, and was losing too much money with my truck. I found the car I wanted and traded in the Screw for a decent loss, which sucked. I miss her already.
I was able to take off the Harley headlights and grille, my recon third brakelight, and the Volant CAI. I put adds in the classified if anyone's interested. But those so&so's got my Alpine setup .
I wanted to thank all of you guys for the last 3 years. There's a lot of great info and great guys/gals on here. I'll stop by and visit from time to time. Take care.

I agree 100%. Though those are nice cars, would prefer an xc90. Well sorry to see you go, ejoy your new ride!

I hope you drive a lot of hwy miles to help pay for the difference for your downgrade in fewer *years*...
I like the Volvo though, we looked at the XC70/90 but not to replace my truck, just couldnt get a good enough deal on them.

The R wagon gets 22/27 with the manual transmission. And most of what I do is highway driving now. These cars have Volvo motors, but it's a high boost 2.5L making 300hp. Nowhere near the stomp of the 5.4L's torque though.
I'm still in the market for a 48-51 F-1 pickup, not that I would get much utility out of that, but it's a dream of mine to own one, restored original, no modifed running gear. I always have my buddies (can't believe I'm saying this) Silverado if I need to move something in the meantime.

Too bad ReForder. A few years back I picked up a "88 240 Volvo for my kid, who has since moved out. I kept the car, almost donated it a few years back, except that I had some nice parts for it. Looks like junk, the perfect grocery car.
I still have my '04 XL, tanked up, use it when needed, it's paid for, but the old Volvo when driven correctly returns 25 plus mpg with 160K on the clock.
And, isn't Volvo still owned by Ford? So, either way, I drive a Ford! It's strange times in which we live when Congress refuses to do anything about drilling for our own energy. No rant intended. Good luck Dudes and Dudettes.

[quote=ReForder;6193666]2004 Volvo V70R, 6 speed manual. I figured if I was getting creamed on the trade in, I might as well make it worth my while.
What is your definition of getting creamed?? Assuming both vehicles get posted HWY mpg @ 15,000 miles per year and 20 cents higher for premium you are saving $1000/year on gas. Not sure how insurance is between the two...or repairs. I would say $5000 loss is "getting creamed" on the trade. 5 years to break even...Doesn't sound like a good trade to me. Just my .02

Okay, not creamed per say. $1500 loss. I only did 7-9K miles per year, as I wasn't traveling as much. At least I was able to pull most of my mods off, except for the exhaust and the Alpine stereo setup. And the extended powertrain warranty (up to 75 miles) I paid for didn't factor in at all.
I was basing it on KBB value of the truck, as well as Edmund's true market value for trade-in. Both of which came up way higher than the dealer was willing to give.
