I have a 1988 ford f150 4x4 with a four inch rancho suspension and a three inch body lift with 35 inch all terrains. This truck has the original 302 ci motor and a brand newly rebuilt c6 auto.

I've been considering switching to a diesel engine (i'm and oil burner at heart) but im not sure which motor to go with. I believe that the international 6.9 and 7.3 (non turbo) would fit the best and i know that they used c6 transmissions. The only problem is the weight, i could throw stiffer springs under the front, but i don't want to.

What i would really like to do is put a 3.9 cummins or a detroit 4-53 in there.

So i guess what i am asking is does anyone know how to fit either of these motors to the trans i already have.

I think you might have luck with a cummins if I remember there was a 4BT in some delivery trucks that used a small block ford bellhousing they were manuals you would still have to find or have a compatible flex plate made. The ford diesels have their own bellhousing no C-6 off any gas motor will work.
