Question Did I pay too much

Just bought a 1987 Ford Ranger. 80,000 miles, XLT, automatic, 4WD, 2.9L EFI. Paid 2325.00. Good condition. that price seem right? Anything I should know about this engine?

Thanks

Seems like a bit much to me but just depends. If your happy then its always a good deal Check the oil make sure its good and doesn't have any water in it. 2.9s are known for cracked heads. Just keep the radiator and cooling equipment in good condition and you should be just fine.

That's low miles for an 87 unless it's turned over once.

seems a bit high to me too. Take a look around (autotrader online, newspaper, etc) and compare what the same amount could buy you.

That truck does look pristine. The price seems a tad high, but if the previous owner has had some work done on it, it could well be worth it.

Looks good, a bit for a older Ranger BUT it depends on the prices in your area, I would pay about that for that truck. I like 2nd gen though.

Kelly Blue Book says $2435 private party, good condition.

Looks like the AC isn't working, no belt on the compressor--or so it seems.

Looks pretty good.

Paying too much--should be avoided, but you have a nice truck & I don't think you really overpaid by much if at all.

Paying too little--many threads resulting from that, most with no real answer to the questions being asked.

I had an '86. It had delicate little flower u-joints. Also, the front steering linkage wore early, one of Ford's better ideas with respect to some plastic fantastic bushing. So, eyeball those u-joints, and if your truck seems to have too much slack in the steering, check the tie-rod and related parts.

'87s may not have had these issues.

Happy Motoring!

Sometimes it is better to pay a bit more then usully for old truck but in good condition then the same money for newer truck and "invest" to make it problem-free.

Also, don't ever second guess yourself. Life is too short and precious to look back and regret our decisions. You made the best decision you could with the information you had at the time.

Pretty truck! If you care about it though it looks like you might be needing an A/C compressor!

If it's locked up, you'll also need to replace the accumulator and oriface tube, and complete flush out all of the other components.
