p0401, p0402 EGR DPFE

I have read the threads on the above codes as I have had these issues over the past 3/4 year. The prescribed fixes (clean TB, replace DPFE and maybe EGR) have worked. However, I am wondering what might cause me to have to replace (under warranty) the DPFE multiple times over the past 1.5 years. Is there something upstream or downstream might cause them to fail prematurely?

Thanks,

Don

After market or Ford DPFE?

If after market, that's your likely answer.

Cool Another Victim Of Spark Plug Blowout

2001 Ford Expedition 5.4L

Well i had cylinder 5's spark plug blow out on me and it cracked the head when it blew.Does anybody know what the hell ford is doing about this? I can't beleive there is not a recall.

Hundreds if not thousands are affected by this

I was quoted $2,500 to replace

Anybody have any heads for sale

Thanks for the advice. i ended up replacing it with one from NAPA,and no more code. I have it logged when I did it, so we will see how long it lasts.

There is a thread here about repairing a OEM DPFE sensor. I'm on my 3rd AZ DPFE right now and I'm heading to a junkyard to get an OE and run it until it pulls codes then I'll fix it. Meanwhile I take it back to AZ and get a refund as it has a lifetime warranty.
Fortunately other than a slight loss of power it's not a big deal.
