white smoke at start up

a couple of days last week it got down around 30 degrees and i had a few problems with my first start up of the day. i turn the key on and wait for the "wait to start" light to go off and then try to start it. it will turn over for about 3 or 4 seconds but wont start. so i turn the key off and then turn it back on and wait on the "wait for start" light to go off again. i turn the key and it fires right up. a lot of white smoke comes out of the tailpipe for about 5 seconds and then its gone. it only does this on the first start up in the morning. i can come back out at lunch or on my way home and it starts with no trouble at all. theres no smoke at any other time either. any ideas?

Next time wait 60-90 seconds to start it. The WTS light goes off too soon sometimes but the GP's are still heating for a max of 90 seconds until they shut off.

That is what it sounds like to me. I have one bad GP and If I try to start too soon and it doesn't start it builds up feul and when it starts the second time boy does it really let out the white smoke.

Our GP's when activated will burn for 90 seconds no matter how long the WTS light stays on.
The SD's GP's burn for 120 seconds.

Good to know the time constraints. X2 on what neal said. nothing wrong with letting them go too long, as long as you dont go too short!
