installing a bed extender on our f150

i just won an ebay auction for a bed extender and if its like my sport trac which it looks like installs but a jam bolt in the bed.

now with my truck not having one installed by factory, can i just buy the jambolt from the dealer and have it taped in? or there another special way to get that jam bolt thingy in?

and yes, i bought a OEM ford bed extender!

any help would be appreciated!

The jam bolts bolt on. There should be a nylon insert in the middle hole to keep them tight.

Just did the same thing. The hardware was a special order from the dealer. Just had to pop the taillight off and attach the nut to the jam bolt and tighten up.

Can't help with part number since I threw away the receipt. I was unable to explain what I needed over the phone but when I went to the parts counter the parts guy had no trouble identifying it from an exploded view of the extender and hardware. Total cost was about around $20.

This way or the way I mentioned above, depends if your truck has the nylon inserts or not. I had a hard time getting the the jam bolts from service, but got them 2, 30torx head jam bolts cost me $12.
