The TTB is pretty simple and tough, unless you have had a heavy load in the back, or long heavy load where the front comes up, the steering gets pretty dangerous. Also some guys put plows on the front of them and unless you put some heavier springs of adjustable shocks on the front, the geometry goes out and you wear the tires bad. I still think the solid front is better. Even on the full size F TTB break on the short side from having plows on them. My buddy had a 96 f250 that happened to.

I had a 95 ranger bought in 94 traded it in 07 .. it was a 2.3 4cyl 5 speed, extended cab
..I put 189,000 miles on it with no problems ever.. did the oil changes engine and trans, and tune ups, brakes, etc..... it still had the org clutch in it.. no kidding..... I mean I drove it 99% of the time like it was a 2.3 4cyl engine. shoot i hauled many full buckets of dirt in it many times it always amassed the guys at the nursery..........
"Why would you want the twin I beam back, other than travel length advantange. You have better steering radius with independent suspension. I have driven both and don't really see any other difference between the two. "
Quite simply because the twin ibeam suspension is bullet proof in comparison to the weak designed of IFS. The 4x4 system in the IFS (having CV axels) in comparison to the solid axel set-up on TTB trucks - the TTB truck again is a much more durable design. IFS for lack of better words - pussified the ranger but it sure rides nice.
We need to stop the pussification of Ford Trucks!

Bottom line-the Ranger as we know it is soon to be dead. Think about it, Ford really got their money's worth out of the basic Ranger architecture and the public got a long line of dependable and recognizable trucks. Ford would be stupid to abandon the compact market and knows this. The Ranger name may die and be renamed the F-something to pad up F sales and keep the F-series the best selling marque of all time. But Ford will always be in the compact truck business and the Ranger may not live on in name, but will in spirit.
I'd love to have a light duty F100, I6, 5speed, supercab and 6 foot box able to tow light boats and small toys around. I have my F250HD Diesel for the heavy stuff ! OH and keep the cost down, my 84' cost less the 17K new and will not pay twice that today for any truck !
