my new truck
well I bought a service truck today, I was holding out for a 4X4 Diesel 5 speed trans, but I got a 2WD 7.5L automatic trans?????
anyhow it is a 1989 F250 with an 8" service body almost new tires, 103,000 miles paint is a little rough (not too bad for an '89) in general the truck seems be in good shape. it was owned by the Prescott Unified School District, the employee who used the truck it's whole life was there and said it has been a great truck.
Oh yeah the price! $1,100.00 plus 8.5% tax and 10% buyers premium.
I love auctions
hopefully this link works to some pictures of it

I hope you kissed them after the papers were signed. Nice looking truck. Is that the non turbo 7.3? That maybe the only real good 7.3 because they aren't over powered. Slow & Steady just like IH. Great trucks if your not in a hurry. I owned a 73 4x4 IH with a 345, 4 speed great truck but not fast. I have always believed the problems with Navstar engines is they were never designed to make the HP or torque Ford wanted or needed. That is why I believe Cummins is much better. The 6.9 & the 7.3 non turbo I have seen many with over 500,000 miles & the really only problems were injector pumps. They weren't fast but would pull anything anywhere, just not fast. Just like IHs.
Maybe I should of gone to an auction to buy our truck instead of a dealer.

My friend in Nevada just bought a 91 F250 4x4 460 EFI his boy drove it to Las Vegas & back & got 15 MPG with it. So you maybe able to get fair mileage. Sounds like 15 wouldn't be much worse than you got with your $4+/gal diesel. Gas $.50/gal cheaper. Only 6 quarts of oil & oil filters $3.28 for Motorcraft. Not bad buy IMHO. No $6000 option for the diesel.
