I found some 2 stroke oil that says 50-1 and the brand name is "Coastal" Is this okay to use just like Wal-Mart brand to put in fuel for lube?

I don't see why not. IMO 2-stroke is 2-stroke.

Does it have to be ashless i.e. marine grade? The Walmart SuperTech brand is ashless.

I keep reading it should be ashless and marine grade is ashless. But I don't know what the consequences would be if it isn't ashless.

1oz/gallon is what they say to use. I'm gonna pick some up this weekend and start using it.

also, i just looked up on Online Conversion - Convert just about anything to anything else that one quart = 32 ounces. so you need a little more than a half-quart per tank.

it needs to be ashless for the new engines to keep there emissions legal. our trucks could care less.

I got to ask why though, fuel is expensive enough. why pour in oil that cost even more a gallon then diesel????

I got about 1-1.5 mpg increase when i switched. At $4 a gallon diesel on say a 14mpg truck. thats about $0.286 per mile. If you jump 1mpg to 15mpg it costs $0.266 per mile. Thats 2 cents a mile cheaper and 30cents a gallon cheeper. At 1oz/gallon 2 stroke would have to be $38.4 /gallon or $4.80/pint
