The best year for 6.0?
From 03 to 07, what is the best year for the 6.0. I want to get a F550 4x4 for pulling over 20K. I don't want to be on the side of the road in need of repair.
The 6.4 are too expensive, got problems of its own and I hear the fuel milage is single digits. Most of the 7.3 have too many miles on them.
Thanks

the 6.0 was integrated into the PSD's in 2003. the 7.3 was all you could get in the trucks that rolled off the line early in production and did not have the tourqe shift in them. like was stated earlier it wasn't until about 03.25 when they started integrating them eventually eliminating the 7.3's. so be sure to watch out if you are looking at an 03 and make sure that it does have the 6.0

In my opinion it would be 05's and up, I was reading and article somewhere that said the 06' and above 6.0 Powerstrokes had the least recalls of any Ford Vehicle engine. Which means they finally worked out all the bugs, then went and spent millions and millions on the 6.4L which is basically a bored out 6.0 with dual sequential (little turbo feeding into a bigger one) turbos, and a few other things.... I have an 05 and an 06 and have had not a single problem with either of them. My 05' I has 62k on it and its been a dream to drive, my 06' has 22k and is just as fun to drive too...

I have an '04 6.0, have had absolutely no problems with it. I traded in an '06 GMC bought brand new with 3 miles on it for my '04 Ford. I have had my Ford for 7 months, and by the time I had the GMc for 2 months, it had been in the shop 3 times. I believe if you find a truck that you like, do your work before buying, but any thing can happen. I was told to stay away from the 6.0, but look what I have, and have had no problems.
