The best year for 6.0?

From 03 to 07, what is the best year for the 6.0. I want to get a F550 4x4 for pulling over 20K. I don't want to be on the side of the road in need of repair.
The 6.4 are too expensive, got problems of its own and I hear the fuel milage is single digits. Most of the 7.3 have too many miles on them.
Thanks

I love my 03 but around here people say they are the most problematic, best thing to do is find a truck you like then run an oasis, clean report from any year of truck is a good sign

I would go 05 or new, have coils in the front, new grille, brake controller, and probably a few other things I am forgetting. I know some of the 03s didn't have the torqueshift transmission so I would watch out for that.

I've never heard of a 6.0 without the torqueshift, sure it wasn't an 03 with a 7.3 in it that you heard of that?

'03.25 was the official designation of the intro to the 6.0L, with the 5R110W. The 7.3L had the 4R100.

Take Care

yes but they still had the 7.3 in them, all 6.0's that were auto's were backed by the torqueshift

Just like in any other manufacturer the later in the production run the more time they have had to sort things out.
I hav an '06 w/o any problems.

the 6.0 was integrated into the PSD's in 2003. the 7.3 was all you could get in the trucks that rolled off the line early in production and did not have the tourqe shift in them. like was stated earlier it wasn't until about 03.25 when they started integrating them eventually eliminating the 7.3's. so be sure to watch out if you are looking at an 03 and make sure that it does have the 6.0

In my opinion it would be 05's and up, I was reading and article somewhere that said the 06' and above 6.0 Powerstrokes had the least recalls of any Ford Vehicle engine. Which means they finally worked out all the bugs, then went and spent millions and millions on the 6.4L which is basically a bored out 6.0 with dual sequential (little turbo feeding into a bigger one) turbos, and a few other things.... I have an 05 and an 06 and have had not a single problem with either of them. My 05' I has 62k on it and its been a dream to drive, my 06' has 22k and is just as fun to drive too...

I have an '04 6.0, have had absolutely no problems with it. I traded in an '06 GMC bought brand new with 3 miles on it for my '04 Ford. I have had my Ford for 7 months, and by the time I had the GMc for 2 months, it had been in the shop 3 times. I believe if you find a truck that you like, do your work before buying, but any thing can happen. I was told to stay away from the 6.0, but look what I have, and have had no problems.

I have an '07 with 21,000 miles and have had no problems what so ever. My 6.0 is totally stock MAYBE THAT'S WHY I'VE HAD NO PROBLEMS. My build date was 11/08/06.
