My Old Truck

I updated my gallery for the first time in 4 years. I'll try to stick a picture on here, but the gallery will have to do.
I love my truck, but it was so much work I would never do it again.

Looks like a Joe's Trucks purchase...the barns look familiar, and the Washington plates are normal. He usually carries a lot of 73-79 stuff, with emphasis on 78 and 79 (at least from what I've seen). If it is from Joe's, I'm surprised he didn't paint the grille shell, as that happens a lot. Must have come from the previous owner that way.

Nice truck, tho!

yep it is a "joes truck"
nice guy..flew out there to meet him and drive the truck. I guess the story is that it was an arizona truck..owned by an 80+ yr old..and family told him it was time to hang it up. Factory original interior, no rips or tears...very clean truck. joe refresh/painted original green. Needed no body or chrome work etc..was a clean one. It has factory air/cruise and is automatic (I wanted all 3 things in a supercab..so my search was a long one.) joe took off the body, painted the chassis and body parts with rust inhibitor and added a 3 inch body lift (which I dont mind.) Then the usual, brakes/lines/rebuilt the C6/shift kit/full exhaust/all seals front/rear/transfer, new rad/heater core, tranny cooler, rims, 35" tires etc list goes on, added a 460..etcI went over it, not a hint of rust or rot...I could never find somethin like this on the east coast. My plan is to add rear disks, maybe some spring work and just have fun with it. Price, equal to the most basic, entry level new f150 standard cab with nothing....yet so much more!

That's a subjective question...if you're talking 2 wheel drive, nah, supercabs aren't all that hard to find....if you're talking 4x4, then they're a little tougher to find, as they were only made for a short time in the 73-79 era. Then...if you're talking supercab, plus, 4x4, plus some sort of odd arrangement (e.g. Camper special, Trailer Special, F350, Digital radio, etc.), then the rarity can go up.

Myself, I've got a 79 F250 Ranger XLT Supercab Trailer Special 4x4....don't know how rare it is, but I do know that Ford got badge happy that year. Personally, the rarity wasn't the issue with me...I just wanted a 78 or 79, and it had to be a supercab, and it had to be 4x4. Past that, anything else was gravy, and the fact that mine was a Trailer Special sealed the deal when I originally bought it.

my truck sounds like yours...as it is also a 79 ranger xlt trailer special...could you tell me what that means? "trailer special"
I saw the black one when i was there. That thing is huge...he extended the frame and added an 8 ft bed onto the crewcab. He said that he had several requests in the past for a crew truck that could handle a 8 ft in bed camper so that is what he made. For me it was too massive. He is in the process of building another crewcab...had it down to just a drivetrain and frame rails.

The one that I really liked was the black camper special that he has. It has the extended frame, 10,000 gvw, build in bed spare tire carrier..etc..nice machine..but I wanted a supercab

What was the price on the black crew, do you recall?

The TS had some optional equipment added to it. These are Bronco specifics and may be the same for the F-series.

Light duty trailer towing package:
Good for towing up to 2,000lbs.
This package included a heavy duty radiator, external oil cooler, seven lead trailer harness, heavy duty turn signal flasher and the Trailer Special emblem on the T-gate.

Heavy duty trailer towing package:
Good for towing up to 6,000lbs.
This package included a heavy duty alternator, heavy duty battery, HD rear shocks, bigger radiator, rear sway bar, swing out recreational mirrors, amp meter, oil pressure gauge, HD front springs, external oil cooler and the Trailer Special emblem on the T-gate.

Does this "Joes" have a website for the folks in here who enjoy a little trk **** now and again THANKS

Joestrucks.com, and take a look at the black crew he has there....Vey nice looking other than the painted grill shell.

That looks to be a 44 to me as well but it was not advertised as a 60 that I saw. Being a 250 it could be the stock axle.
