Need Opinions- Should I get headers on 96 460 EFI

should i do it?

Ok I have done alot of searching on here and looking around. Here is the big question will longtubes and a hi-flo cat coupled to 3 inch single into a single in dual out (2.5 INCH) make a big difference for me power wise. i know the ports on the engine help big with porting. i am goin to do the hi flo cat at the same time as headers if i do them other wise just the cat. will just a cat do it or will the headers make the big diff. im looking for best i can do for around 300 maybe 400 bucks (exculding cam not ready to tear down that motor)

I was looking at the Doug Thorley tri-y but if i go long tubes im going to get the Hedman longtubes off ebay that say they come with y-pipe heres the link

thanks for any ideas

What state do you live in?

It sounds like a great idea. I would love to do the same to my Bronco, but California won't let me.

Headers make a big difference on these trucks, the stock exhaust system is not optimal at all. If the EFI system is operating normally the headers should not affect your sniffer tests either, my truck has passed Ontario sniffer tests repeatedly with aftermarket cats and longtube headers.
