ball end of slave cylinder still has plastic cup bushing in it. pivot ball and and socket show no wear. this truck has 140,000 miles and almost all are empty highway miles. the original clutch disc was the same thickness as the replacement. I only split it because of a noisy t o bearing which was seizing up.
It's also possible that the new diaphram fingers are a fraction lower than the last. Something like cozmolean (keeps metal from rusting) or other lube got on there. Reguardless, the problem is because the TO bearing is not riding on the fingers as firmly as it should. Heck, put a vaccum line cap on the slave rod see what happens. I don't know man. With a fork in great shape like that, it shouldn't squeal. But I know you didn't miss anything like you asked. From all the clutches I've done and seen put in, it's really a crap shoot weather or not it will squeal. But the one thing I do know is this, if you shim the pedal it sure makes it hard to get the slave back on. LOL In the end, bearings, clutches etc. just aren't built to tolorances that are perfect every time. Very close, but there's always something different. And I'm just sharing my solutions I've found and used.

never thought of a shorter diaphragm, I guess I just don't need to let this bother me. it isn't a loud squeal just a squeak.
thanks RubberDuck
