2.3L Tach

hey this is kinda important. my friend has a 1996 ranger with the 2.3l and a 5 speed. he needs to know how to hook up an aftermarket tach beings how there is no distributor?

I am not to sure if the years are different but according to Autometer locate the black wire with the pink stripe on the ignition module. It is on the lower plug of the grey plastic module on the left side of the intake manifold behind the alternator.
