valve lifter change.
I recently removed my lifters and I did it without removing the intake manifold. All I did was speand like 5 bucks on a lifter puller at my local auto zone, the lifters on the inside are easy to pull out but the ones on the outside are pretty difficult because only the puller will fit through the little hole so what I did was pulled it from the hole and then let go of it, I then took a telescoping antenna with a magnet on it and fished out the lifter from an angle.

OK I'd say there are Some Motors that you can change them WITHOUT removing the Intake ........ But the 351M/400 isn't one of them.
the only holes in the head are only big enough for the pushrods to fit through. So how'd you get the lifter out once you got it out of the lifter bore is the tough part.

I made this assumption a couple months ago too when I looked at the 4V heads. 2V has a large opening in the center.

I still wouldn't do it without removing the intake. It doesn't get much easier than a dry intake.

I am telling you it can be done i have a 351m and I changed the lifers without taking the intake off. there are only little holes for the push rods on above some of the lifters, in the middle look and the guys pictures there is a big gap. the lifter puller will fit down inside the little pushrod holes, simply pull it out and let it drop down inside, then get a magnet or a pair of tweezers and fish it out from the hole in the middle of the head, it only took me like 15 minutes to pull them out after i got the valve cover off.
