05' FX4 scab, I was given a Pioneer Premier 8" shallow mount subwoofer. It only has a mounting depth of 2.5".
My question is could I yank out the stock woofer and replace it with the pio and keep the stock box?
Thanks
Only suggestion is to try and see if it will work. I'm not sure how the sub is connected to the stock box, but there's only a couple of bolts holding in place, so it's easy to take out and look at see.
Have you heard the sub? I've yet to have any experience with the shallow mount speakers many of the larger companies have started to offer but subs are all about moving air and excursion. So I'd be curious to know if they are able to provide decent performance.

No I havn't heard it yet...I just wanted to find out if I could take the stock sub out of the enclosure and replace it with the new one before I tore into it and find out that it wont fit or work.
If I get it working I'll report an update for you.
I have two 12" pioneer shallow mount subs in my f150 and they sound as good if not better than my two 12" solobarick l7 that i had in my f250 with the save amp
