oil in anti-freeze?

Got oil in my anti-freeze and was told before i tear into the heads and head gaskets that it may be an oil cooler problem? Can any one help me on that?

look at his handle,,i would bet on a 5.4.,,,what ever,,i would get right to it. when the engine cools it may suck coolant back into the oil and that does the engine no good.

intake gaskets are known to do that. take the intake off and see if the gaskets are leaking. if you don't see any thing wrong then i would go ahead and start pulling the heads.

Definitely could be the oil cooler. Easy to change, compared to the intake gaskets

Oil pressure is always high ... when running. Pushes oil into the coolant. When it's shut off, the coolant pressure feeds back into the engine oil - not a good thing.

Snap On Tools (Not a plug) sells a kit that will tell you if you're cooling system has exhaust in it (head, or head gasket), but the kit's about $90.00.

Thanks Ray...

You could always remove the coolant lines to the oil cooler, and either plug them or plumb them together, and see if you get oil dripping out the coolant ports of the oil cooler

Or take it off and have it pressure checked.
