1968 Ford F100 -- Fleetside? Flairside?

This is Susan, Larry's wife. I posted our 1968 Ford F100 for sale on the craigslist as a Flairside and thought it was a Flairside for years. But someone said it was a Fleetside. This is our old truck. Somehow we just got mixed up if that guy who emailed us is right. Here is a pic. Please tell me which one it is. Fleet or Flair

I believe the fleet side model was the full width bed like yours there. im really not sure but all the flaresides ive ever seen have the bed width inside the wheel wells.

I believe that "fleetside" is a chebbie term? The Flare side coreates to "Step side".

Susan, Tell the BUTT that is arguing, that terms get can get over rated, but what you are offering is a long wide bed.

Fleetside is a chevy thing as far as the term goes. came around in the late 50s early 60s but it just meant a full width bed as opposed to the step side setup. As far as i know there wasnt a "fleetside" ford. I believe the fords were styleside and flareside of the period. Ofcourse i wasnt born until the 80s so i have no first hand knowledge of any of this

I still know nothing and am more confused

Originally, a guy emailed us to say the Ford F100 was a Fleetside, not a Flairside. Larry said Fleetside was a chevy term and one reply has said the same thing. And when I went to Wikipedia to check out terms on Ford F100, they never mentioned either term. Maybe we'll just call it a 1968 Ford F100 1/2 ton longbed and hope no one asks if it is a Fleetside or Flairside. It is interesting that there is confusion about this. Thank all of you for your help. I think I'll continue researching this -- out of curiousity.

Your truck would be a Styleside.

As said before, Fleetside and Flareside are for Chevy trucks, for Effies it's Styleside and Stepside.

Fleetside = Styleside
Flareside = Stepside

Hope this helps ya out!

Styleside it is then

Okay, then ours is a Styleside. UgggH. That little quest was a lot more complicated and interesting than I had anticipated. Now I'll need to go through all our online ads and change everything to Styleside.

As a note of interest -- when we went to N.A.D.A price guide to get an idea of the value of the truck (which is $6,700 if running order with normal wear), the choices they give are these: Both suggest Flairside or Styleside now although I would have swore that back some months ago we were limited to different choices. Anyway this info matches what the last guy with the example photos said so I'll take it. We have a Styleside. Now it all looks so obvious. I think they changed their choices. How else could I have gotten things so screwed up? I copied and pasted these so sorry for the links and hope it's okay -- I couldn't deactive them.

so i kinda hate to be the one that tells you this BUT, and i am not very familar with the truck market in MO, here in So Cali that truck in the picture wouldnt bring much more then $1000 or $1500 so dont be surprised when people offer you that much or less. and i dont know how much you were asking but the NADA numbers as you posted seam very very high to me at lest, good luck with the sell

Not to beat this to death but you can think of it this way.

Flairside (which ever manufacturer you want to hook it to) has flairs on the outside of the bed. Flairs usually hang over the tires.
Stepside. Sais what it is. A step on the side of the bed hence the indents infront of and behind the tires.

Fleetside. Most trucks sold for a fleet will have the normal long/wide beds.
Styleside. Just have to know this one because personaly a stepside has more style but Ford can't steal another manufacturers terms.

These trucks are not EFFIES. Effies are fat fender 50s trucks.
