460 omc marine engine specs?

I have a 7.5 OMC KingCobra rated at 335HP, question is what would I need to change to install this into a 78 F250 4x4, replacing a very weak 400. I've been told this is a CJ engine and the marine cam is more for upper RPM performance. Would this give me satisfactory performance in my rig, 4:10 gearing and 17/40 tires? I have both the standard and a spare automatic from another 400. Thanks Trey

Factory marine cams are NOT for high RPM. Marine engines are built for torque and the average upper RPM limit is around 4,800 RPM...not that the engine cannot RPM higher. Marine engines generally use the best of parts so you have a good base engine, but I would change the cam to fit the intended use of your truck.
