Valley Pan Gasket
I've got 1976 460,tearing it down it had a valley pan gasket, my rebuild kit came with this gasket as well.
My question is, if I am using an aluminum Edelbrock Performer, do I use the Valley pan or the individual gaskets (My rebuild kit came with both), is there to much heat under the intake without the vally pan.
If I have to use it, what is the best way to install it.

Yes use the valley pan gasket.
Yes there is alot of heat generated from the 460 with an aluminum intake.
When you install the valley pan gasket, be sure to put RTV around all the water jacket ports and the front/rear bottoms of gasket (don't want to pull the intake back off for leaks).
Hope this helps.

Valley Pan Gasket
Just got done putting an Edelbrock performer intake on a buddys 460 (in a 75, its got two transmissions, C6 and 4 spd) when he picked up the intake gaskets from the parts store it had a valley pan in the kit. First time I've ever seen this, I'll be getting the same kit for all my 460s from now on, anything to keep the hot oil off the intake. Basically all the pan is for is to keep the intake cooler (or so I've been told and everything I've read says the same thing). The pan that came in this kit did not fit under the intake at the ports, just in the front and back. I ran a 1/8 bead of silicone under the pan and on top of the pan, he's put about 5000 miles on it now with no problems (hate those end gasket never had one to not leak by 5000 miles)
Just my two bits worth. Whit
