Not the 7.3L too!

I just read that ford is recalling 1.2 million 97'-03' superduty trucks with the 7.3L diesel. I know there has been problems with the 6.0 and 6.4 but I always looked up to the old 7.3L. When my 5.4L grows up that is what it wanted to be.

The cam position sensor has been failing in 7.3's for years. They finally decided to put out a recall (or gov't forced them, not sure how that works).

I fixed mine out of pocket 3 years ago, and got it replaced again last week under warranty, and a check in the mail today with my original money back.

My theory is Ford did this to gain leverage against Navistar in the ongoing court battles. Navistar has to pay the recalls (per contract), not Ford.

Isn't that cool when that happens? Years ago I had a head gasket repaired on a Toyota 4Runner. It was recalled for said problem shortly thereafter, I recveived a check for $5500.00.

I have an 02 7.3. Guess i'll be getting a notice soon. Never had a problem with mine, apparently I won't.

That would make a lot of sense in a big picture kind of way. Besides I enjoy a good conspiracy theory now & then.

I haven't gotten mine either and I prolly won't bother with it. I already replaced my CPS with the new "grey" one and have another spare in the glove box. I just don't want to bother with leaving the truck for the day.

It's an extremely minor recall. I had both of my 7.3's recalled and it was a simple 1/2 hour fix on both.

I haven't heard about the recall. I have a 2000 F350 7.3 Hope Ford will send me something. I bought the truck new and have really never had any problems with the it except for the front hubs and the power door locks, which thanks to you guys here at Ford truck enthusiast. I was able to fix.

I believe you can just stop by the dealer, show them the receipt where you have already replaced it, and they'll send you a check to cover your costs up to a set amount.
