New rear bumper...opinions?

Hey everyone again! I'm getting a new rear bumper soon to replace my old silver one that is rusting and peeling. Here are the choices I have:

All 3 styles are Fey bumpers made by Westin:

Diamondstep Bumper

Surestep Bumper

Surestep Deluxe XLT Bumper

I'm leaning more toward the second choice, with the top step pad, and without the front pads. Front pads on the bumper in my opinion make it look ugly. However I do like the top step pad. It'll kinda balance out like the front bumper with the bumper guards.

But let me know what you all think!
Here's a pic of my truck with the old bumper it has:

The old bumper had a built-in trailer hitch that is welded to the frame. I'm going to order a new trailer hitch that will go with the new bumper:

Looking forward to hearing from you all again with your opinions!

I like the first one. You cant beat diamond plate.(unless you paint it black) Your right about the 3rd tho. Bumper pads on the sides do not look good.

I would go with the first choice, but the black step would bring out the "FORD" lettering in the tailgate. So I think either of the first two would look great.

I agree with ajordan150, on the choice, like the 1st bumper option but the second one is more practical in my opinion. The old one looks good enough too paint it with hammer gray/ sliver paint. I wish mine was like that one. I don't haul heavy loads so a hitch attached to bumper is good enough to me.

Yeah the only thing I'd ever haul with my truck is a boat trailer, which I don't need that super heavy duty bumper or trailer hitch. Anyway the old bumper doesn't match the rest of the truck at all.

Through Summit Racing the 2nd choice, the SureStep one, is 259.95. And the first choice, the all chrome one, is 279.95. I think I'm going to go with the SureStep one. Not totally sure yet though. Thanks for all the replies so far though! You guys are awesome...I love this forum!

Made up my mind 100% this time!

I found out that Summit Racing doesn't have the third choice I listed. That is the SureStep XLT. They have the SureStep Deluxe XLT, which is the following bumper:

They have that one for $279.95, with free shipping, and only an extra $8 charge. Well worth it in my opinion! Another thing, the fullsize models supposedly have a 800 lb. tongue weight, and a 8,000 max trailer weight, which is pretty good!

Anyway, thank you for all your inputs! I am probably ordering the bumper tomorrow (Tuesday) and installing it next week. This Wednesday I'm installing my clearance lights on the roof. Should be fun, looking forward to it actually!

I like the first one also.

I just went to the junk yard and bought one that looked like the first one without all the chrome and painted it with rustoleum black semi gloss paint. Probably the best looking thing on the truck now. I just couldn't pay the $280 compared to $35 with elbow grease.

That summit one will look very nice though!

You're origional hitch/bumper looks like the factory ford HD bumper. Pretty rare if it is.
My Dad had one on his truck that got rear-ended and crushed the bumper. Never could find another like it. His truck was a '73 F150 camper special longbed. It had very thick steel. Much thicker than any of the step bumpers you could find now.
It sure makes a great place to show your stickers

How could I chrome the original bumper when it's welded to the truck? Is there a way to chrome it while it's on the truck? If it could be chromed I'm all for that.....I like the original bumper, it's solid as hell.

Well you guys, I think you all talked me out of getting a new bumper. I really like the one that's on it, and yes I do think it's the original heavy duty bumper. The truck has no spare tire, the trailer hitch is welded to the frame where the spare tire should be. It's solid as heck, could back into something and it probably wouldn't do anything to the bumper.

What color should I have it repainted? The silver again? I'd have it rechromed, but to do that it'd have to be taken off the truck, and it's welded in at least four spots on the frame directly under the gas tank....

Anyway what do you all think I should repaint the bumper as? I'm thinking leave it silver, but then black might make it look good too...
