GM alternator for My '58 Ford update

My gallery has photos from my conversion from a generator to a 65 Amp Delco-Remy alternator. I used an autolite A7127M alternator and made a mounting bracket with guidance from the good folks at ranchwagon.com. Enjoy!

Clever! It appear the all-thread piece allows the use of the stock generator brackets?

Correct! I was able to use the stock upper and lower mounting brackets. The previous owner of my truck changed the front engine mount and cross member to the large single midline bolt found on the the larger trucks with the HD motor. I scavenged the lower generator tension adjuster bracket from a salvage yard. So to get the adjuster bracker to move right I had to shave a little material off the front engine mount. Maybe those with standard MD two-point front engine mounts won't have to remove any material.

Very good article, I believe I may have a GM alt. on my '51. It is mounted to the top of the engine but I think the Alt. is going bad on me and I've been looking for ideas for a replacement.
