I am completely surprised some guys hate these LS rears?! Mine works flawlessly. I have never been more satisfied with an LS rear in my life.....

If it's set up right, they do work fine. Problem is when the clutches wear out or the LS isn't set up aggressively enough. That's why I love the Truetrac. No clutches to wear out, and the aggressiveness is actually adjustable within the unit. They are also cheaper!

There is nothing wrong with running a locker or LS in the front end. Only way it will "trash your drivetrain" is if you run 4wd on a paved road... which you shouldn't be doing on open diffs either!

Limited slips are ok, but not worth $1k.

Unless new lockers came out for the 9.75" I don't think the true trac is an option..... Could be wrong, I haven't looked into it lately.

But there isn't anything wrong with running a locker in the front diff, it puts more strain on parts when using 4wd and turning while spinng your tires, and using 4wd on pavement isn't good either.

Yup, the place I bought mine from has a Detroit locker, Truetrac, and Auburn and Eaton LS differentials for the Ford 9.75".

I can't believe a junkyard swap hasn't been mentioned. you can probably get a low mileage axle off a wrecked truck with 3.73 gears and LS for easily under $800.

it would only be a 6-8 bolt swap...very easy.

but, if you're going aftermarket, get a detroit or tru-trac. I personally like my LS and see no need to upgrade. had no issues with it or other LS in earlier Fords
