In my late teens and early twenties, I owned a 1977 F 150 Ranger. It was a black, long bed, with factory slotted wheels, and stripes on the side that resembled a rainbow of colors. As best as I can remember they went from yellow-orange-red-blue-purple--or something like that. Can anyone help me figure out if this was some kind of edition of a truck, or just a regular truck with some fancy factory decals? The stripes were indeed decals, I am just wondering about models. There used to be another one in my town back in the day, but I haven't seen one in years. Thanks.
I really appreciate it. I will continue to look, but they seem to be somewhat uncommon. I bought mine in '81, and it had 65,000 miles on it. The 400 was worn out and the dealership put in a new short block under the 30 day, 3,000 mile warranty, and I drove the truck 5 more years and to 110,000. I miss that truck.
I think up here in Canada the dealers use to call it the sunshine package. Not a 100% on that but that is all I ever heard them called. We have a late 70's Bronco in my town in black with the kit.
They used to have something like that out here in San Francisco, they called it the "happy fairy rainbow package".... LOL. Just joking around. You could always find another truck and have the vinal decals re-made. It would be a bit expensive but would look nice I'm sure.
It's nice to see that someone else is interested in the freewheeling trucks. I was beginning to think that I was the only one. I'm currently in the process of restoring mine.
