Turbo Rebuildable?

My 95 f-250 has 197,000, the turbo shaft has enough play in it to make the compressor wheel rub the housing, with the 10k mod installed i can hear this at high boost levels. Now my question, is my turbo rebuildable or am i better off buying a rebuilt one on line. I talked with Ron from ebay and he said if the wheel will rub the housing the turbo is too far gone to rebuild it with his kit, I kind of felt like i was bothering him and did not really pick his brain. Any info would be appreciated i would really like to rebuild rather than replace.

Side note, i have been reading this site for years and it has been very useful thanks to all the people posting and offering such great information.

I have never dealt with Ron as I have yet to have the need. Ron does come highly recommended and if he said that it can't be rebuilt it probably can't, that is if you want it to work properly.

I understand that he has resonable prices on his rebuilds. Perhaps you need to call him back and this time pick his brain and find out what he can do for you.

Perhaps other on the forum will have additional ideas for ya.

Ron is the man. My turbo did the same thing. After talking with Ron and calling around for prices and parts I determined I needed a new turbo. I bought it from Ron. Here are picks of the damage your turbo probably has. The new turbo in the album is the one I bought from Ron.

You really won't know about your turbo until you get it wore down. just don't drive your truck this way. That wheel hitting the housing makes metal shavings and the shavings go into the engine.
