I just changed my dove c heads to adjustable valve train.I got the arp7/16 studs for a bigblock chevy,as well as long slot rockers they are 1.7 ratio be sure to get the 1.7s,next was to get the 8.65 trick flow pushrods must be hardened as well as the ford motorsports guideplates for 5/16s pushrods the total cost minus the 7/16 studs was about 170.00 i did not have to mill the area below the rocker studs either.I frequent the boating boards and numerous people suggested this route. What ever you do do not use the stock rail type rockers.they will eat the tips of your valves and with a high lift cam they can hit the valve spring retainer(this i do know as i couldnt figure out what happened til i read up on this)I got al my parts from summit but the guide plates were not in the catalog so you will have to ask but be sure to get the 8.65 pushrods and trick flow was the only one to offer them in 5/16s so they were pricey about 85 bucks.

There probaly is no way to tell without using an adjustable pushrod to test for the proper geomoetry. Your cam must have a smaller base circle. My combo is very similar to yours, Comp Cam Xtreme Energy 34-231-4 cam, harland sharp 1.73 roller rockers, ford motorsport 8.55 hardened pushrods. Using ARP studs and guideplates. Did not mill the rocker stud boss for the thickness of the guideplate. Maybe having CJ heads yours are already "milled down" a bit? Stock DOVE-C heads of that vintage used non-adj. rail style rockers. Will an ARP stud place the rocker arm a bit higher allowing you to use the stock length pushrods? I'm using ARP studs.

sorry if this doesn't help but I recall being told from Comp that the same cam can have different base circles depending upon the blanks that were available. Does your card say?

can email me direct gerry.bragg@altarum.org

good luck.
