Exhaust Temp. Question

Two Weeks Ago My Truck Goes Into A Regen Mode When I Get Home, So I Leave It Running While I Unload Some Items Out Of The Bed Of Truck, while Unloading And Carring Into The Garage I Walk Past The Tail Pipe Probaly Eight To Ten Inches Away The Exhaust Singes The Hair Off The Back Of My Hand .
So Yesterday It Goes Into A Regen Again While I Am Getting The Mail And I Hold My News Paper Six Inches Away From The Exhaust Pipe And In Five Seconds The News Paper Is On Fire .
Is This Normal Temps Or Something Possibly Wrong.

P.s. 12000 Miles On Truck No Problems At All And I Absolutly Love The Truck .

This is normal. The internal temp of the dpf is 1100F+/- during active regeneration. The exhaust tip temps can be as high as 500F+/-. This is the reason for the funny looking tailpipe outlets. They are supposed to diffuse the exhaust gases and mix them with cooler ambient air.
