Show Off Your Pre-97 Trucks
It's a bit of an investment at first, but learning how to use a rotary buffer is the single best automotive skill I ever learned.
One possibility is to pick up a Porter Cable DA style machine. It's almost impossible to burn paint with it and it'll remove about 80% of defects a rotary removes. The DA is just sloooower.

Absolutely! Nothing does as good a job as an rotary! I bought a milwaukee variable speed many years ago. Get all three pads, wool heavy cut, sponge mid cut, and the (normally) black light finish pad. Likewise get 3M finesse it medium cut compound for doing both the heavy cutting and mid cut, and then the mequiars swirl remover "final step" polish for the final round.
After all that a good waxing and the vehicle will look like new! That is if you don't go crazy with the rotary and burn clear.

There are a bunch of reputable machines out there. I've had great luck with my Porter Cable DA and Makita 9227 rotary. That Makita has been used for about 12 years or so without fail. Every so often, the cord fails, so I have to cut it a little shorter and reconnect it to the terminals inside the machine. That's it. I've polished 100+ cars with it over the years. Good luck and have fun!

A new truck might not always mean the best business, but a well cared for truck that is kept clean and presentable is usually a big plus. The company I used to work for(small electrical company) had a couple newer trucks, but we always kept them clean. Chrome and aluminum shining. Customers always commented on the trucks, and then, after the job was done, they would make a comment about how detailed we were and how you could tell we took a lot of pride in what we did based on the appearance of the trucks and our work. Always nice to hear. Not saying you have to have the best looking or cleanest truck to do the best work, it just translates well to customers.

The 90 got kicked out of her spot in the driveway to make room for her older sister whom was going through surgery.
First pic dad's 90 on stock 15x7 and 235 75 15s and my 88 F150 on 15x8 and 31 10.5 15s. This pic has the engine in their.
Second pic my 88 in the driveway before the engine went in.
Third a pic of the 2 in the driveway parked next to each other.
Then the engine on the stand ready to go in
and lastly engine in waiting to be buttoned up.
I seriously need some 33 12.5s or 10.5s and a my leveling spacers in plus a bed cover. LOL
