Slide out motors
My slide out motor has quit sliding out. It will come in just fine but I have to crank the slide out out with a wrench. When I crawled under it I also found the "rolled pin" that holds the motor shaft to the gearing was sheared off. So my question is, how would I begin to trouble shoot this problem? How does the motor work (only two wires going to it)? Does it reverse the current to reverse the motion? Any help and advise you can give to me would be appreciated.

If it's is like most that I've seen; it's a 12 vdc motor. They change direction simply by reversing the polarity on the motor contacts. The voltage and current ratings will be printed on the motor housing. If the pin was sheared then something caused the slider to stop. The pin is there to protect the motor and gears. I would check the motor plate and apply the correct voltage to the terminals and see if the motor is ok. Put a fuse in line in case it has a shorted winding. If all is working, check the slide to make sure nothing is bent and travels freely.

Thanks for y'alls help and suggestions. I'll crawl under it and find some way to remove the wiring and shoot the juice to the motor to see if it will work both ways with directly applied power. If it does then I'll have to try to figure out where a relay for this thing is. I don't beleive there is a way on earth I would ever find a wiring diagram for this thing. I doubt the people who wired it even had one.
