Exclamation i think i blew my computer!!!!!

i was trying to do the cruise control mod. connected the harness under the dash no problem. Put a jumped wire in the connector over the brake booster and something in the the truck popped or clicked sounded like a loud relay. now I have no mileage, speedo, inside lights, keyless entry isn ' t working But the truck runs and drives But it slams gears now if your to har on it and the od light is flashing. I was told it could be the cluster others tell me its the computer. Please if anybody has had this happen to them or knows anything about this please help its my only truck and I really need it. I ' m really ready to panic if they predict snow.

Check your fuses. All those are on the same circut if I remember right. Also don't dirve it. My Dad had a 97 that popped that fuse and drove it a ways without noticing it and had to replace the tranny.

I second the fuses. To be on the safe side check both the under dash and under hood fuses.

Check again you have a fuse blown on the interior fuse block. should be one of the 15 amps. there are a ton of fuses that tie into the tranny. I had a keyless entry module that kept blowing a fuse and it was all those things you listed.

Thanks Ford man. I would double check under hood fuses as well and maybe check them with a meter or check for power on both sides. If all the fuses check out good then you have deep wiring issues I would guess.

your computer can't be fried if your truck starts and runs fine although the tranny is shifting wierd. the injectors and stuff are running meaning the computer is sending the signals it needs to for all that stuff. check for power on the wires you tapped into cause if you let the magic smoke out of the wires then you need to replace the wires. that is if the fuses check out. sometimes it can be tough to tell a bad fuse but absolutely make sure none are blown.

yep got her fixed today you guys were right it was a fuse #8 interior to be exact which runs the speedo and interior lights but if you just looks at the fuse without pulling it or useing a test light on bothsides you would have never seem it it melted at the terminal instead of the middle where they are suppose to blow. it was also a melted wire at the speedo head itself and while i had the speedo head out i took it apart and cleaned it out. It looks brand new now and works good now too! Thanks for all your help!
