I was checking out the internet late last night and from pics I saw, there either 360's or 390's. The only #'s I could get off the engines were the intake casting #'s (way to much dirt, oil, and sludge to see the others). The casting #'s in the intakes are the same C9AE 9425B. Can anyone tell me what those #'s are? My dreams were shattered when I found out I didn't have the 429. Guess I will have to buy one. I am not a real big fan of the 460's (I can get a 460 with a C-6 for $500 (needs rebuilt)). Thanks for the info.
I don't understand prefering a 429 over a 460 for a truck application. As 1 Big Mike pointed out, same engine, longer stroke with the 460. With the weight of a truck, any addition to stroke (torque) is a plus.
I have heard that with the 429's shorter stroke they are known for being able to rev higher. I agree though a 460 is what you want for a truck application.
