Sorry guys, I just had to do it!!

Well I did it...traded my beautiful 05 F250 6.0l for a 08 Toyota Tundra 5.7l .....although my truck was my dream truck and problem free for 24,000 miles...I could not get over all the issues that could have come about such as; egr cooler failures, HPOP failures, extended idle problems, cold weather issues, oil leaks, plugging it in, etc, etc. I honestly felt like I was driving with a piece of delicate china under the hood, waiting for a problem to surface...I could never relax, and although I did purchase that truck to pull a 5th wheel camper, which the wifey wasn't interested in...it was just too much truck for my needs...so I wanted to say thanks to all for good information and knowledge I learned from here...but the greatest joy is not having to listen to my wife nag me everyday about waking her up with my noisy truck and stinking the house up like a city bus every time I back out of the driveway...
oh and by the way....that Tundra is hot!!! smooth, quiet, powerful...capable of towing 10,800 lbs, it's a sharp, well-designed truck and actually feels like I'm driving a luxury car......Happy New year to all!!! Matt

Hey not a bad choice, I test drove one of those trucks about 1 month ago. I was impressed, it was kind of wierd to have that kind of rumbling sound coming from a toyota engine though! When I first took of I hit the gas too hard and it snapped my neck back pretty hard, that truck has some serious power though!! Most power I have ever felt in a gas powered truck ever! Good Luck! Do not expect too much when you tow though, there are no gas motors that will tow like a diesel any day of the week!!

I will never have to tow that much anyway...I have a dual axle enclosed utility trailer, loaded at times, maybe around 8k in weight... no problem, like it's not even back there!!, it is more than enough for my needs!!!

They rate it to pull 10,800. They sure don't have the great state of Alaska in mind when they post those ratings. I wonder how well That TOY would do pulling my camper up Thompsons pass coming out of Valdez on a hot summer day. I have a 33' travel trailer that has a gross weight of 10,500 lbs. And I carry a chest freezer in the bed of the truck when we go down there to go fishing.

I've had a few of the Toyota Tacomas. I never had any problems with them I do have to admit. Just remember though in a 20 Mph impact collision chances are it will be totaled. The new Tundras fold up like a piece of paper. Plus the power train on the Ford is covered for 100,000 miles. I still have 99,600 miles left on my warranty

HUH?? Are you sure what you ran was a 5.7 toy? I had one of those things pull up next to me and I even did a full boost launch and that freakin Toy smoked me to 50mph by about 3-4 truck lengths. Either you have a haul a!# truck or that Toy was a 4.7 litre or he wasn't racing ya!

Good luck with the Yoter, I think they are over rated personally. I've driven a few and not impressed. Oh don't put anything on the tail-gate cause she will come apart.
