Lift Kit for '97 F350

I am looking at 4" lift kits for my single cab 1997 F350. I like the look of the Skyjacker Kit. Tuff Country also makes a kit but I've heard bad things about them and you get what you pay for. I was wondering if any of you guys have used Skyjacker's 4" kit. Please tell me your experiences or suggestions. It looks like their kit runs about 700 bucks. Also what is the difference between kits for a rear towing package and those that don't? If you have any pics of a lifted '97 please post them! Thanks and Happy New Year to you all. -Joe

If your looking to lift it check out sky manufacturing. You can lift it and benefit from a better ride by doing their shackle reversal kit, they have 3 and 5" lift heights and price's are good too. I am doing the 3 and maybe putting superduty springs in while I'm there. sky-manufacturing.com

go with skyjacker, they are definatly the best in my opininion. you get an excellent ride and you can still tow great. the reverse shackles i have heard bad things about if you use them for offroading or heavy towing.

the difference from skyjacker between tow package and non tow is the addition of sway bar brackets and extended end links. if you get the lift kit get the front and rear springs, dont get the rear blocks, its a much nicer ride with all spring lifts.

I have a 4'' Skyjacker on my 97 350. Overall I gotta say its a pretty good kit, rides pretty good, its my tires that make it a bad ride, real aggresive treads. Out of all the kits I could find for these trucks I thought skyjacker was the way to go. As far as the difference with the towing package goes, I think they send you longer U bolts if you have the towing package, I'm not positive though so i could be wrong. When I got my kit I did not specify if I had the towing package or not and the rear U bolts were too short, I had to get longer ones made up so thats what I'm assuming they need to know for.

it sounds like your kit used rear blocks instead of springs. am i correct? if so then that s the reason for the longer bolts to fit the helper spring, you should have called skyjacker, they cover everything for lifetime, they would have sent you the right ones.

Yea unfortunatly I did get the blocks in the back. I'm goin up to a 6'' very very soon and thats going to be all leafs. Yea I know I should have called Skyjacker, problem is I found out they were too short when I had everything apart, I have a place that made the U bolts fairly cheap for me so I didnt complain. Still sucks, I coulda saved a few bucks if i woulda called.

just remember if you ever break anything on the lift they will send you a replacement at no charge. its guranteed. my buddy busted a shock mount clean off the truck when we were 4 wheelin and they sent him a new one no cost, the kit has been on his truck for over 10 years now

i had no idea either, he just called about the replacement part and they told him they cover it under warrenty he provided proof of purchase and that was the end of it. this was 3 years ago but i would assume the same applies now. a definat question for their tech support

Ten years Epd444 didn't you say that you had only put like five thousand on your lift. I guess you must have got it from someone.

Anyone know how much worse of a ride I'll have if I go with the rear block kit instead of rear springs? The rear block kit would fit my budget of 700-800 bucks.
