What is this truck worth?

Well I've been looking to buy a diesel for some time now and I think I've found one, but I'm just wondering what you guys think. It's a 95 F-250 Reg. Cab 4x4 w/ 168k, they are asking $8,495. It looks pretty nice form the one pic they have supplied. After doing a Kelley Blue Book value check it says it's only worth between $6,000-6,600, the upper range being only if it is in excellent condition, which they say only about 5% of used trucks fall under. I don't want to insult them by trying to lower the price too much, what do you guys think? I've also thought about paying for the Carfax report. If I do go check it out, what should I look for? I've never owned a deisel before so any information is greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't pay 8500 for a 95 single cab with that mileage, I've looked at one ton crews for the same price.

What do you think would be a reasonable offer?

Hard to say, but if its in good shape, tires are good, no mechanical issues I'd say $6K is fair.

If they were to accept that and I go check it out, is there anything I need to be looking for mechanically that could tell me something could be wrong. Like anything to check on start up or idle?

ceheck front tire wear, ball-joints and bushings are prone to wear especially if they are not serviced regularly
