ARP Headstuds vs warranty

when guys have there trucks into the dealers and the dealer has had to raise the cab for what have you IE bed plate leak, they have had the dealre install ARP studs. Have the dealers questioned this or flagged your VIN as being modified voiding any further warranty? Or ask why you want to do this IE make mods?

I had my truck in for the bed plate leak. I asked about having headstuds installed and the tech said he could not do it because they were not going to remove the heads. He also said that if I did do headstuds and had a problem in the future that it might be an issue.

It depends on the dealership and the mechanic. My mechanic actually offered to install the ARP studs when they were replacing my head gaskets. He just happened to have a set that came out of an engine that went back to Ford and the owner sold the truck. I kept my warranty as well.

It varies from dealership to dealership. If your lucky about your dealership still covering you there isn't anything to say the one that you have to go to because something happened with your truck is going to extend the same consideration. Best advice is test the waters, see how your dealership responds to the idea. I would actually do it anyway because once it happens that first time, you run that risk of it happening again as far as headgasket issues go.

I would almost put in those arp headstuds and say screw the warranty...but if you would have another major breakdown and your warranty was voided are your pockets deep enough to pay for it??? That is the question to ask yourself. My dealership is great and didn't void it when i had them installed after my head gaskets blew, said it would not pose any problems if i have to bring it back to them, but they did say other dealerships may not honor the warranty because of the studs.

On a related note, if the truck is in for a bed plate leak, anyone know how much it would cost to put the ARP studs in (labor only, I would supply the studs) since the bed plate leak has already caused the engine to be pulled (or cab lifted)? It seems like a large percentage of the labor charge for stud replacements has already been incurred for the bed plate leak.

I had the ARP headstuds installed a couple of weeks ago while my truck was in for the bedplate leak. The only caveat is that I have to take my truck to the same dealer for the rest of my warranty work, but that doesn't bother me because they were so great to work with the first time that I only want to go back to them from here on out. My diesel tech actually said to call him from now on on his direct line, that's impressive.

dc3655,

I am in North San Diego County and looking for a good dealer, would you mind telling me which one you are dealing with? Thanks
