Smog Pump Question
This may seem like a silly question, but what is the purpose of the smog pump, and what would the effects be of removing it?

Smog Pump Question
The smog pump's purpose is to provide air into the exhaust right before the catalytic converter so the exhaust fumes that are not burned can be burned. From what I understand and have read on the subject, this air injection into the exhaust reduces hydrocarbons(unburned fuel) rather effectively. The pump provides air to help the combustion process outside the engine. Parasitic power loss should be less the 1hp at the most! I would keep it on the engine so it produces clean exhaust and doesn't pollute the air we breath.

Smog Pump Question
Don't plan to remove it...I like breathing clean air. Was just curious because it's going to be in the way of the lower radiator hose when I install my body lift. I'll just have to find me a radiator hose that will snake its way around it.
